VIETNAM & KOREA GUNS

Stephen Dent - Semi Automatic M16

The easy thing to focus on in Vietnam, in my book would be the chemical weapons and the M-16, with special respect to the M-16A1. What may be less obvious are some of the pistol and other small arms selections used by the US during this war. A top Stephen Dent pick is known as the “Hush Puppy” – the slightly modified Model 39, a 9mm Luger with short recoil and fitted with a silencer, was used by SEALs.

Another Sugar Dent favorite, and another Smith & Wesson of Vietnam era, is the Model 15. This is a 0.38 caliber pistol, a double action six-shooter. This model has been modernized and is still widely used today by law enforcement and other groups.

Some of my favorites for the Korean War have gotta be the M1 and M3 Carbine. These widely used rifles were and still are produced in Grand Rapids, Michigan and weer also heavily used by US military during WWII. The Sugar Dent Gun site also recognizes the important role that the Colt M1917 handgun played in Korea & Vietnam.
