REVOLUTIONARY AND CIVIL WAR GUNS

S Dent Guns: Colt Model 1960 Navy RevolverAt S Dent Guns, we don’t measure a gun’s value or importance by how fast it loads, caliber size, whether or not it’s automatic or even powerful. Sugar Dent focuses more on the historical importance that guns have played throughout the course of the American story. I appreciate how these individual guns helped to weave the tapestry of American history. From the Brown Bess to the Springfield, I recognize the important roles that all sorts of Revolutionary War muskets and muzzle loaders played in gaining American Independence. Some of the finest muskets used in the Revolutionary War were French made, such as the 1763 Calvary Carbine Musket. Such muskets may or may not have been used with bayonets depending on the needs of the soldier. Another commonly used firearm, although not a musket, was a known as the Flintrock “plains” rifle. You can thank this nearly five pound hog for your freedom everyday!
When it comes to the guns of the US Civil War, no one knows better than me, Sugar Dent which firearm saved the North – and the South! What most Americans don’t know about Civil War gun history is that both Confederates and Union soldiers used many of the same pistols and rifles. Of those they have in common, the S Dent favorite has got to be the M1860 Army Revolver. Some may say there’s “nothing special” about this gun, but given that it was the most commonly issued firearm to both sides of the Civil War, I consider it a timeless piece of American culture.
